NOWATA, OKLAHOMA
The City of Nowata, including Mayor Garry Gibson and City Manager Marie Gorley, have hit the road recently to local and regional events to tell the story of the City of Nowata while networking and learning from peers and partners across the region. This is our Events and Travel Recap for September 2026.
Everything starts with partnerships and we are externally grateful for the countless partners who continuously help secure and propel the future prosperity of our hometown community.
From planning for the future to mitigating the immediate needs from unforeseen circumstances, community development takes a team that humbly seeks the guidance from partners and peer communities.
Recently in September, the team has traveling and connecting with citizens, stakeholders, partners, and peers at the following events:
- The Oklahoma Municipal League Conference in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
- The State of the City hosted by our friends at the Nowata Area Chamber of Commerce.
- The Grand Gateway EDA Banquet with Kendra McGeady Cherokee Nation D11 Tribal Councilor and Nowata County Commissioner for District 3, Troy Fiddle.
- Learning from 2026 Mayors Council of Oklahoma Mayor of the Year winner, Mayor Debra Wimpee, of the City of Broken Arrow - Municipality and the Mayor of the City of Glenpool, Mayor Joyce Calvert.
