About the Nowata Municipal Authority

The City of Nowata provides area residents and businesses with essential water and wastewater service through the Nowata Municipal Authority (OK1021503).

The water source is the Verdigris River and the source water type is surface water.

Customer Alert - Convenience Fee for Credit Card Payments

Effective on Monday, March 3rd, 2025 the City of Nowata will be adding a $3.00 convenience fee to all credit card payments, over the phone and in-person at City Hall.

To avoid the $3.00 convenience fee, utility customers can sign-up for the auto draft option. Auto draft comes out on the 10th of every month or the following business day. This is a free option and forms are available at City Hall or via PDF download.

The City of Nowata is not responsible for any lost and/or stolen postal mail.

Please allow adequate time for your postal mail payment to arrive at City Hall by the payment due date.

Pay Bill via Auto Draft:

The ACH auto draft payment option is a payment method that allows utility customers to avoid any convenience fees. 

Auto drafts for payment of Nowata Utility Bills are processed on the 10th of each month.

Customers will need to fill out an authorization form at City Hall to setup auto draft.

Instructions for After Hours Drop-off Payments at City Hall:

You may drop off your Nowata Utility Bill payment in the “dropbox” at Nowata City Hall. Check or money order ONLY. Please no cash.

 

 
 

Payment Arrangements & Reconnections

The City of Nowata cannot guarantee payment plan or late payment options prior to disconnection of services. Please see below.

Payment Arrangement Overview:

There are no guarantees that the City of Nowata will be able to offer a partial payment or post-due date (i.e. later) payment arrangement.

However, it's much appreciated that the utility customer contact City Hall, (918) 273-3538, to discuss payment options prior to non-payment. A non-payment can lead to late charges and ultimately, disconnection of service from the customer's property-business or residential.

Please do everything in your power to let us know directly of any trouble to make payment. As your payment is vital to our city's operations and ability to offer utilities to our entire community.

To resume service your bill must be paid in full plus $60.00 for disconnect/reconnect fees.

If you are not transferring service to another Nowata City address, you can ether get a full deposit back or credit it towards your final bill.

City of Nowata Utility late fees are 20% of the current month's bill.

Per federal and state requirements, the Nowata Municipal Authority (OK1021503) provides a quality test yearly and issues public alerts regarding any violations, including boil orders.

Customers can also visit the Oklahoma DEQ website for an entire breakdown of water quality testing, violations, and water system information for the Nowata Municipal Authority.

Customers will need to fill out a New Service Application along with providing a copy of their new deed or rental agreement.

Customers may transfer deposit to the new account or apply the deposit to final bill on expiring account.

If a customer does choose to transfer the deposit, a $30.00 transfer fee will be applied to their account.

If a customer decides to apply their deposit to the final bill on the expiring account, they will need to pay a new deposit and connect fee at the new property.
