The City of Nowata is accepting applications for an Abatement Technician to join our team.
This is a hands-on position responsible for helping maintain, clean up, and improve properties throughout the City of Nowata. The ideal candidate will have experience with property cleanup, equipment operation, excavation, demolition, tree maintenance, and general outdoor work.
The City of Nowata is looking for someone who is dependable, hardworking, safety-conscious, willing to pitch in where needed, and takes pride in helping keep our community clean and well maintained.

Abatement Technician Job Description - October 15th, 2026
Primary Job Duties May Include
- Mowing, weed eating, brush clearing, and general property maintenance
- Cleaning up dilapidated, overgrown, or nuisance properties
- Removing junk, debris, and other materials from properties
- Assisting with demolition and cleanup of dilapidated structures
- Operating a skid steer and other machinery, tools, and equipment
- Performing excavation, dirt work, and site cleanup
- Tree and limb removal, including the safe use of chainsaws and wood chippers
- Hauling and disposing of debris and materials
- Assisting with operations and maintenance at the City dump
- Assisting other City departments with projects, maintenance, and operations as needed
- Performing other related duties as assigned
Qualifications & Requirements
- Valid driver’s license required
- Ability to safely operate vehicles, tools, and equipment used in the position
- Ability to perform strenuous physical labor, including lifting, carrying, bending, climbing, and working on uneven terrain
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Ability to follow safety procedures and work effectively as part of a team
- Experience with property cleanup, skid steer or heavy equipment operation, excavation, demolition, tree maintenance/removal, chainsaws, wood chippers, or similar construction/outdoor work is preferred
