The City of Nowata is proudly located within the Cherokee Nation Reservation. Over 15% of our population are members of the Cherokee Nation. Our community's story is undeniably tied to the long history of the Native people and tribes that have called our community home long before statehood.

Present day, we have a Cherokee Nation community center, healthcare clinic, and childcare facility located within our city's borders.

We are also within a 30-minute drive-time from Cherokee Nation's state-of-the-art, professional film studios in Owasso, Oklahoma.

From hiring Cherokee talent to working directly with Cherokee Film, our community is proud to assist film productions in collaborating with the Cherokee Nation to empower the voices of the many Native people who call our city home.
